the response. holds a formal Apprentice Program for young, emerging dancers who are working towards a professional career in dance. The Apprentice Program is made available periodically to ensure it is in conjunction with appropriate company endeavours and projects. Providing space and opportunity for its accepted participants, selected dancers receive inclusive intensive training in contemporary technique with the company's Artistic Director, Amber Funk Barton, learning to take skills from the classroom to the stage as they receive the additional opportunity to perform with the company.
Past productions including the apprentices from this program are Workspace (2009) and Work Space II (2013) presented by the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and Orbits (2015), a Dance Allsorts performance presented by New Works. In 2016 the Apprentice Program was featured in Space + Time as part of The Dance Centre’s International Dance Day Events.
Auditions for the next installment of the Apprentice Program will be held in 2018.
